Hello everyone! I'm in Oregon, but at the end of the month I'll be moving to Davis, California. As far as I can tell on the map, and from what I hear, I'm not too far from the Bay Area. I'm an avid scuba diver, so I'm looking for clubs, groups, and dive buddies who are interested in diving in the Bay Area. I have no idea what the scene is like at all, but hopefully I can get involved at UC Davis in some way. I have my own gear except for tank and weights.
I've completed my rescue diver certification and have 25 dives so far, but that may jump up to 30 or 35 by the end of the month. ;) I'm used to cold water diving. I dive mainly in the Puget Sound, off the Newport jetty, and in Clear Lake.
As I said, I'll be in Davis at the beginning of September, but classes and other stuff doesn't start until the very end of the month so I would love to meet up with some interested buddy (or buddies) and dive somewhere or other that you think is good! :)
Any advice on good areas and good dive shops would be muchly appreciated. :D

Hi all. I'm living in Monterey this summer, and finally got around to getting some diving in today. I've been certified for a few years but only have 60 plus dives under my belt (definitely not for a lack of enthusiasm!). I'm hoping to find a buddy to dive with since only 1 of my friends from class is certified and I'm hoping to get a couple of dives in each weekend. I have a couple of specialty courses under my belt and am proficient with all the basic skills so I won't be a drag! I also have all my own equipment sans tank, weight belt, wet/dry suit.Leave a comment

May. 9th, 2005 10:52 am Great dive
We had a great dive on sunday. I guess the combination of mothers day and the rain kept everyone away, and we had lovers to ourselves. The ocean was calm and quiet, and vis was a great 25+ feet. It was easy in, easy out, and great vis throughout. Played with several kelp fish and some decorator crabs. 4 comments - Leave a comment
The ocean was its usaul frigid self, and we managed to stay under for a little over a half an hour.
All in all, well worth the trip out.

Mar. 18th, 2005 11:44 am Just found this group...
I'm new to LJ, and I just found this group. I've been diving for about 15 years (I grew up a dive brat... my father was/is an instructor). I have several hundred logged dives (everywhere from CA, cozumel, hawaii, fiji, central america, and most recently france), but in live in the bay area so its where I dive the most. I am PADI and SSI certified (almost a SSI divecon, but haven't filed the paperwork).1 comment - Leave a comment
Anyway just thought I'd stop by and say hi. Its always nice to keep up on whats going on in the monterey bay :)
Mar. 4th, 2005 01:00 am Yay bay area diving!
Interestingly enough my first group will be this one ^_^
Info on me:
Well I am college student at Cal Poly who's been diving for oh about 2 years come april. I have around 50 or so logged dives all of which have been the central coast area and catalina island =P.
I just got PADI advanced certified and plan to get rescue in a few months. I am hoping to graduate soon, so maybe that means more diving? Being a college student I'm pretty much dead broke so I mostly enjoy shore diving cause its cheap! Plus there is always a story to tell (especially if you try diving Big Sur). Anyways glad to be the 8th member....and hey! lets go diving eh?
